Confirming what Michiganders have long known, ABC's Good Morning America has crowned the Sleeping Bear Dunes along the Northwest shores of Lake Michigan the Most Beautiful Place in America.
After thousands of submissions from viewers were narrowed down to a top ten, the Sleeping Bear Dunes beat out other beautiful American spots such as the Grand Tetons in Wyoming, Lanikai Beach in Hawaii, the Rocky Mountains in Aspen, Cape Cod, and the Grand Canyon.
Of course, Michiganders and those who have had the pleasure of visiting our beautiful state are well aware of her beauty and they came in numbers to vote on Good Morning America's poll and confirm our state's rightful place as most beautiful place in America. Thanks and congratulations to all of those who appreciate Michigan's beauty and voted for the Dunes.
Personally, it's a good reminder that I need to plan a trip back to the Sleeping Bear Dunes and hike up the sand dunes from Lake Michigan, tube the Platte River, and camp nearby like I did with family and friends growing up.
